Lawrence M. Paska, Ph.D., is the Coordinator of the Office of Curriculum and Instruction and the Office of Educational Design and Technology for the New York State Education Department (NYSED) in Albany, NY.
As the coordinator for curriculum and instruction, Dr. Paska develops and supports policies, programs, and instructional guidance for the New York State Learning Standards in P-12 education. He provides leadership for the arts, English language arts, school libraries, mathematics, middle level education, physical education, professional development, science, and social studies.
As coordinator for technology policy, Dr. Paska is responsible for the implementation of the Statewide Learning Technology Plan for the University of the State of New York (USNY), the state’s interconnected system of educational services overseen by the New York State Board of Regents. In this role, he develops policies and initiatives to foster and implement educational technologies across learning and teaching environments statewide, in partnership with other NYSED offices, and state and national organizations.
Recent projects include implementation of the NYS P-12 Common Core Learning Standards, policy development for online learning, instructional guidance for Internet safety, and multiple learning pathways for college and career readiness.
